The Global Initiative for Nature, Grids and Renewables (GINGR) has launched a call for proposals to commission a landmark Scoping Report on environmental and biodiversity reporting in the renewables and grids sector. This work comes at a pivotal moment, as renewable energy infrastructure rapidly expands and the world seeks solutions that are not only climate-resilient but also Nature-Positive and People-Positive.
The report, due for completion by 31 December 2025, will provide a strategic overview of environmental reporting requirements relevant to biodiversity and nature, with a particular focus on offshore wind. Its purpose is to ensure that any future reporting framework supported by GINGR is additive—filling critical gaps rather than duplicating existing efforts—while remaining fully aligned with leading global and regional standards such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, and IFC Performance Standard 6. Crucially, it must be actionable, supporting the effective disclosure of outcomes that advance Nature-Positive goals across the renewables sector.
Consultants undertaking the work will map both legal and voluntary reporting obligations, examining the extent to which current practices across offshore wind, onshore wind, solar and grid development align with the expectations of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. They will also analyse how requirements from multilateral development banks and the Equator Principles shape biodiversity risk disclosure, before identifying the gaps where improvements can deliver the greatest impact. The final report will be supported by accompanying data tables, a presentation of findings at a GINGR webinar in early 2026, and inputs for a closed-door strategic workshop with financial sector representatives at the IUCN World Conservation Congress.
GINGR is seeking proposals from individuals or teams with strong expertise in biodiversity and environmental reporting, particularly those with experience in the renewables and infrastructure sectors. A proven understanding of disclosure requirements from international financial institutions will be key, as will the ability to deliver concise, visually engaging outputs for a multi-stakeholder audience.

By commissioning this Scoping Report, GINGR aims to strengthen the credibility and effectiveness of reporting across the renewables sector. In doing so, it seeks to ensure that the grids and renewable energy projects shaping our future are not only advancing the clean energy transition but also restoring ecosystems, empowering communities, and driving genuinely Nature-Positive outcomes.
