COP31 Press Event: Key Insights to Enable a Fast, Fair and Nature-Positive Electrification

At COP31, the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) will present a blueprint for fair, fast and Nature-Positive electrification, demonstrating how building better is the key to building faster.

Through the GINGR methodology, the event will showcase evidence-based approaches and tools that help measure impacts of electricity infrastructure, identify positive contributions and inform decisions that maximise benefits for the energy system, biodiversity and local communities.

As governments and sectors accelerate direct electrification to strengthen energy security, competitiveness, affordability and climate action, the success of this transition will depend on the rapid deployment of renewable energy and electricity grids — both of which are deployed in nature and next to communities. Drawing on experiences from around the world, and grounded in multilateral dialogue and shared learning fostered by RGI, the blueprint will demonstrate how a Nature- and People-Positive approach can accelerate deployment today, while securing the trust and support needed to sustain progress tomorrow.
